In this day and age, learning spoken English is important for students across the globe. It is the global lingua franca - the intermediary language. Hence, English is largely popular in professional settings and is often a requirement for many job positions, particularly in fields such as business, IT, and tourism. Being proficient in English can open up a wide range of job and education opportunities which is particularly vital for struggling families.

Additionally, much of the world's information, including books, academic journals, and online resources, is written in English. Studies have also correlated better Spoken English to improved confidence, memory and greatly increased spatial and cultural awareness. By simply learning spoken English, students can access a greater wealth of knowledge and can communicate with larger and more diverse groups of people.

On the other hand, knowing your mother tongue is largely important to defining the identity of many American-Indians. As an Indian living in the United States, learning and continuing to speak in Tamil was one of the best things that happened to me. It opened the doors to a world that could have been lost forever and our mission is to ensure this door never closes for others.

One’s mother tongue is often closely tied to your cultural identity. The mere act of speaking in another language for just a few hours can help you better connect with your family, community, and cultural heritage. In fact, studies show that 1 hour of language exposure a week bears great results in improving fluency. It is important for younger generations to develop the skills that allow you to communicate with family members more effectively, building stronger relationships, and better understanding your heritage and traditions.
